This greataxe is fashioned from infernal iron and traced with veins of hellfire that shed dim light in a 5-ft radius. Any demon slain by an attack made with this weapon is killed and does not return to its original plane of existence. Originally the axe of a demonic executioner, the Minotaur Minjar of the Nadur Clan of the Gruul slew the executioner and turned the axe against the demonic hordes of Rakdos during the Rakdos Revolution.
In Minjar's hands, it has developed the following properties and traits as it has gained power from slain demons.
- It glows red when it is in a location that has been the scene of bloodshed within the last week.
- Once per day, the wielder can cast Detect Evil and Good from the axe targeting exclusively fiends and in a range of the wielder's movement speed.
- When the wielder has advantage on attacks made with this weapon, they may reroll damage dice. If they choose to do so, they MUST accept the second result.
- The wielder cannot be made to drop this weapon against their will.
- The weapon has a violent nature. In situations where there is a viable (DM's discretion) violent option or solution and the wielder is resisting that choice, the wielder must make a CON save to maintain control of the weapon and resist its violent urges. The DC is 5 + the number of demon souls powering the weapon (currently 5). If the violent option involves slaying a fiend, the wielder must make this save at disadvantage.
Proficiency with a Greataxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Cleave. If you hit a creature with a melee attack roll using this weapon, you can make a melee attack roll with the weapon against a second creature within 5 feet of the first that is also within your reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the weapon’s damage, but don’t add your ability modifier to that damage unless that modifier is negative. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
