Armor (shield), very rare (requires attunement)

This hand shield is reinforced with adamantine, one of the hardest substances in existence. While you're holding it, any critical hit against you becomes a normal hit.

Claw. While holding this shield you may make a claw attack with it as if it were a simple melee weapon. This weapon has a 5 foot range and a +2 to attack and damage rolls. It has the finesse property. On a hit it deals a base 1d8 slashing damage and an additional 3d6 necrotic.

Additional abilities are granted for wielders who give their soul to the corruptor.

Curse. This item is cursed. You cannot willingly unattune to this item once attuned. When you equip this item your hand will not be able to let go of it under any circumstance until your next long rest. The hand holding the shield cannot be used for somatic spell components. Additionally, whenever you negate a critical hit or make a claw attack, you have a 5 percent chance of being corrupted for one minute.

This is curse is removed for wielders who give their soul to the corruptor.

 

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
