You must lop off your arm and the press the item against the stump. The arm mechanically grafts itself to your arm and becomes a functioning appendage. Once you have done this, any time you use the Absorb Elements spell it does only fire damage. The initial level 1 damage is increased to 2d6, additionally, the damage increase can be stacked with every subsequential casting. When making a melee attack, your Absorb Elements will only release if that melee attack was unarmed (using the Arm of Absorbing).

Overcharged

Once your arm has absorbed damage past 10d6 worth of damage, the Arm of Absorbing will go into "overcharged" mode. While in this mode, you will take 1d6 Force damage for every d6 of damage you are above the initial 10d6 limit. Additionally, instead of the melee attack being single target, it will instead be a 15-foot cone.

Malfunction

Every d6 after 12d6 incurs a 25% chance that the arm will malfunction and break, ending with 16d6 being the cap for damage with a 100% chance to malfunction. When your Arm of Absorbing malfunctions, the arm itself is destroyed as it tears itself from your body, half of the damage done to your target is done to you and you take an additional 1d6 damage at the start of each of your turns due to the bleeding.

Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
