This iridescent metallic sand is the product of distilling and refining the pure magical potential within certain material components. Most spell casters who make magic items or work with costly consumed components have encountered this substance if only for fleeting moments as material components are consumed by their preparations. Sold in small packets this rarefied magical potential can be substituted for any material component that costs 100 gp or less. Multiple pinches have an additive effect; for example, three pinches could substitute for the 300 gp diamonds required for Revivify.
