This grimoire automatically reads and copies the traces of magic principles in its surroundings. Once a spell has been cast in its presence it creates a complete copy of the spell cast allowing its attuned wielder to learn the spell. All rules required to learn spells still apply.
There is a small chance to learn spells immediately. When spells are cast within 100 ft the attuned holder can use a bonus action to learn the spell. Make a DC 20 intelligence saving throw, on success the spell is learned immediately and considered prepared for one casting. After 1 minute or casting the spell the spell can only be cast again if it is prepared normally however it is still learned as an addition to the spell book. The casting of the spell requires an appropriate spell slot and can be up casted.
Notes: This book was once owned by the only spell caster to approach the 10th level. The spell caster’s name has long been lost to history but their legacy remains in the form of this grimoire. While attempting to transcend the 9th level the caster sacrificed their life to cast the first and only 10th level spell reaching the domain of the divine. After expending all of their life force and magic what was left behind was this grimoire. The book has patiently waited many moons for a worthy spell caster. Overtime most of the grimoires innate magic has waned and it’s sentience dimmed. However, when the one destined to exceed the lost legacy attunes to the item, this grimoire will lead the caster to greater heights and attain its former glory. This item grows with the caster. , This book was once owned by the only spell caster to approach the 10th level.
