Amulet of Draconic Tranformation (Bronze)

Carved from a single bronze dragon scale, this amulet bears a relief carving of a wise draconic face, with citrine gems for eyes.Its power: to transform the wearer's race to Dragonborn.

The Amulet requires attunement. This requires reciting prayers to ancient goddess Doragh and to dragon god Bahamut, which are inscribed on the amulet's reverse side, in ancient Draconic calligraphy and in the dead heiroglyphic language of Doragh

To activate the Amulet's powers, the user meditates for 15 minutes while chanting the command phrase, which is inscribed in ancient Draconic calligraphy in a circle around the carved face. The user will then TRANSFORM into a Dragonborn of Bronze ancestry.

How this works: all racial characteristics switch to Dragonborn. The user will gain Bronze Dragonborn traits, including breath weapon and Dragonborn ability score increases, and will lose any racial traits or ability score increases from their original race (such as darkvision for a wood elf). Some skill scores will also modify (since they are linked to ability scores and traits).Otherwise the user's characteristics (class, levels, hit points, spells, etc) will stay the same (i.e. an Elf Ranger will turn into a Dragonborn ranger). The character's personality, memories and skills will stay the same, as well as weapons, armor (which will scale up in size magically) and other possessions. The user retains any languages he or she knows, but also gains Draconic.

To turn back to their original race, the user must again meditate for 15 minutes, but this time while chanting the command phrase backwards. They will then return to their original race, with their original characteristics. Any changes that happened while they were Dragonborn (hit point lost/gained, spells used, or experience points gained, new levels attained) will carry over to their original self.

The Amulet holds 2 charges. Each transformation (to Dragonborn, or back to original race) takes 1 charge. To recharge, the user must chant the attunement prayers for one hour, during a long rest.

(NOTE TO DMs: to use this magic item, you will need to have a parallel Dragonborn character sheet for your player. When a player transforms back and forth, you switch and update the character sheet).
