This crimson coat can be worn over armor. It is designed to resemble a pair of wings. It was transformed from its original platinum make by Asmodeus to signify his pact with Edgar Dorsani, the cleric of Bahamut.
Behavior. The coat’s wings smoulder with flame when fiends draw near. When dragons are close, it erupts into flames and its lengths transform into fearsome (but nonfunctional) flaming wings.
Dormant
The coat grants the following benefits in its dormant state:
- You can speak, read, and write Infernal.
- The coat grants you a +1 bonus to AC.
- You have resistance to fire damage.
- You know the thaumaturgy cantrip. You can also cast the hellish rebuke (2nd-level) and the darkness spell each once with this trait and regain the ability to do so at dawn each day. The spell save DC for these spells is 15.
Awakened
When the coat reaches an awakened state, it gains the following properties:
- The AC bonus of the coat increases to +2.
- You gain resistance to cold and poison damage.
- The coat grants advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
- The coat gains the properties of a cape of the mountebank.
- The spell save DC of spells you cast using this coat increases to 17.
Exalted
When the coat reaches an exalted state, it gains the following properties:
- The AC bonus of the coat increases to +3.
- The coat grants immunity to fire damage.
- You can transform the coat into its form of fiery wings at will, gaining a flying speed of 60 feet. This speed is reduced to 30 when it’s raining.
- You can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical.
- The spell save DC of spells you cast using this coat increases to 19.
