This straight greatsword has simple designs, but at the base of the blade it is jagged, and the hilt is golden. A dark garnet is set in the pommel. The kong (king) rune is etched into the guard. The greatsword fashioned by stone giant smith Gereltok for the rightful queen of the Caves of Irikhan, Danid Slateaxe.
Behavior. The sword, which is the original Sword of the Monarch, hums when one of royal blood is near, requiring a DC 20 Perception check by one holding it to notice.
Dormant
The sword grants the following benefits in its dormant state:
- The sword has a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it.
- Your maximum hit points are increased by a number equal to your level.
- As a bonus action in combat, you can shout a bolstering phrase to spend and roll a hit die to have a friendly creature within 60 feet of you regain hit points equal to the number rolled.
Awakened
When the sword reaches an awakened state, it gains the following properties:
- The attack and damage roll bonus of the sword increases to +2.
- The number your hit point maximum is increased by increases by 2 per level.
- The sword grants advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws.
- When you heal a creature using the sword, that creature regains twice as many hit points as the number rolled.
Exalted
When the sword reaches an exalted state, it gains the following properties:
- The attack and damage roll bonus of the sword increases to +3.
- When you hit a dragon with the sword, the dragon takes an extra 3d6 damage. For the purpose of this weapon, "dragon" refers to any creature with the dragon type, including dragon turtles and wyverns.
- The number your hit point maximum is increased by increases by 2 per level.
- You can use your action to expend any number of hit dice and roll them. A friendly creature within 60 feet of you regains hit points equal to the number rolled, which is doubled by the sword’s Awakened feature.

As a bonus action, you can unleash a battle cry. You and up to four other creatures of your choice within 30 feet of you that can hear you gain advantage on attack rolls and saving throws until the start of your next turn. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until the next dawn.
Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
