The crucible blades used by the assassins of Ardis come in many variations. They are made exclusively in Ardis, and each has a defining trait. Two of the main traits they have are being almost invisible when not in use and poisoning it can be a bonus action. Many other abilities exist such as dealing extra necrotic damage equal to twice your proficiency bonus and stealing half as much hp. These are very hard to forge and cannot be found as treasure due to all assassins taking a blood oath on penalty of death never to reveal their secrets. It usually costs about 20,000 gp to replicate one, or the materials must be sought out by a former or acting assassin of Ardis. The cost not only covers the materials, but the expertise requires to forge the dagger
Use one of the template traits or make your own.:
- When you attack, you may deal extra necrotic damage equal to twice your proficiency bonus and stealing half as much hp
- No matter how much people search you, they will never find a hidden assassin dagger
- One dose of poison counts as two when poisoning the dagger
- Poisoning the dagger takes a bonus action
- If a creature is wearing armor that is more than 50% metal, you can teleport to them as a bonus action.
None of the traits count as magic, just superb craftsmanship, and this item's rarity is based on the power and number of traits it has.
For DM's, here are some resources to make players get: Mithril melted by an ancient blue dragon, adamantine infused with the blood of every type of lycanthrope, a rare poison [ I recommend carrion poison] that has hardened due to fermentation and sprinklings of moss powder, melted soul coins, shadowfell shards, and ebony blessed by the seelie and unseelie courts.
Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
