Weapon (crossbow, light), artifact (requires attunement by a druid, barbarian, or blood hunter chosen by Khavan)

Once wielded by Khavan the Bloodsinger, this ancient relic of war is stained by centuries of bloodshed. Rough-hewn and brutal in design, it is warm to the touch and pulses as if a heart still beats within it, echoing the rhythm of your own.

Sanguine Malleability. The weapon initially takes the form of a magic spear, but over the span of a long rest can be reshaped into another weapon that the wielder is proficient with.

+3 Weapon. You have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

Additional Damage. This weapon deals an additional 2d8 points of damage (same type as weapon you are using).

Transfusion. When you hit with an attack using this weapon and reduce the target to 0 hit points, you regain 4d6 hit points.

Blood Bolt. As an action, your ammunition transforms into a bolt of blood, forming a line 5 feet wide that extends out form you to a creature you can see within 120 feet of you. Each creature in the line, excluding you, must make a DC 15 DEX saving throw, taking 12d6 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. This property can't be used again until the next dawn.

Battle Cry. While holding the spear, you can let out a battle cry as a bonus action. Each creature you choose within 30 feet of you gains advantage on attack rolls until the start of your next turn. This property can't be used again until the next dawn.

Pact of Blood. As a bonus action you can either dismiss or call upon the weapon.

  • Dismiss - When the weapon is no more than 5 feet away from you, you can dismiss the weapon, shunting it into an extradimensional space (within your veins if you have them.)
  • Call Upon - When the weapon is no more than 120 feet away from you, you can call upon the weapon, it returns to your hand immediately.

Proficiency with a Light Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
