A book containing 150 (2d100+50) pages, most of which are blank. Filled pages contain descriptions as described below.
When an item not larger than twice the size of the book is placed on a blank page and a trigger word is spoken, the item is absorbed into the book and disappears. Starting on the blank page, a detailed description of the item written in an ancient, forgotten language appears, with illustrations, detailing the item's properties (as from an identify spell), uses, manner of creation and, if appropriate, its personal history. The number of pages taken by the description depends on the item's rarity (see table).
By default, but at the DM's discretion, the item is completely destroyed by this process and cannot be restored.
The book will not incorporate unique or legendary items, and attempts to use the book with them fail.
