This small leather pouch is embroidered with a motif reminiscent of desert sands. The pouch contains one thousand steel ball bearings which each contain a spark of mischievous animation. When full, the pouch is never entirely still; its contents shift and jostle restlessly, though the pouch itself bears a minor enchantment that ensures they also do so quietly.
As an action, you can spill these bearings onto a level, square area that is 10 feet on a side. Once so spilled, the bearings move and shift across the ground of their own accord, constantly getting underfoot and actively seeking to trip other creatures. Any creature other than you moving across the covered area must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. A creature has advantage on this saving throw if it moves at half speed through the area.
As an action, you may ask the bearings nicely to return to their pouch, which they do over the course of a few seconds. If the bearings are not asked 'nicely', they instead swarm under your feet and force you to trip and fall prone. They must then be picked up and returned to their pouch by hand, which takes at least five minutes (or ten, if you fail a DC 10 Investigation check), before they will respond to you again.
