Akashic Records is a 6cmx6cmx6cm cube made of Ioun stones of Reserve. It was created by a Wizard who desired to improve the storage capabilities of the stone. After his success, he shared the method to create an inferior version, and shared it with those of great power.
Attunement is required to Release spells, not to Store spells.
Store. Akashic Records has 6 charges that can be used to store spells. During a short rest, spells can be cast into the magic item, taking up charges. Lv 0 - Lv 6 spells take up 1 charge and Lv 7 - Lv 9 spells take up 2 charges. Spells that are stored use up spell slots, have no effect, and last until released.
Release. By using an action, spells stored in Akashic Records can be released. This causes the stored spell to take effect instantly, regardless of the casting time of the spell. Releasing a spell causes Akashic Records to gain charges equal to the charges expended by the spell being stored.
