The Alexandra is a potent (and heavily cursed) magic item. The Rod is one third of The Onyx, a more powerful, even more ludicrously cursed fey weapon.
The Onyx is a colossal great-sword, made up of an Obsidian blade, a Lapis cross-guard, and an Alexandrite handle, capable of opening rifts in space-time itself, and crossing dimensions.
The Rod; weirdly, possesses none of these, instead granting its Atunee other forms of magical power.
Curse of The Onyx: The user will become unable to cast spells unless they are either in or from the Feywild. This item cannot be unattuned from you if you cannot cast spells.
Curse of The Alexandra: When attuned to the rod, you are classed as an undead, with no physical changes. You cannot be healed by healing potions or other types of magical healing that specify they don't work on undead.
For Avalonia!: The wielder gains the following benefits:
- The Wielder can use a reaction to defend against an incoming melee attack by swinging the rod in the way of the attack, choosing to either increase their Ac by 3, or talking half damage from the attack.
- The Wielder can use a reaction to absorb a spell cast at them, at 4th level or below. This can only be done once a day.
- The wielder can use the one charge of the rod to flair it around like a wand, and then castFireball at 9th level.
