Silver Riata is a sentient longsword that has no idea who her creator is or where she was forged. The blade has a beautiful Damascus pattern going down it, but it seems to have horizontal lines that follow the curve of the blade, going across the blade itself in sections. The edge of the blade has a Kris style to it. The bottom section of the blade has along handle, much longer than a longsword would normally have. The handle is colored in silvers and black in alternating patterns. On the center of the guard seems to be an empty space that is missing 3 separate gems. What they are is unknown.
You gain a +2 to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. It has the following additional properties:
Form Change. When you speak to Riata and recite the phrase "Break" the longsword then begins to separate at each section along the blade and extends into its bladed whip form. The longsword now has the reach feature and its attack range is 10 feet.
Form Change Awakened. When Riata is in her Formed Changed state you recite a new word "Scatter." When the word is spoken Riata's bladed sections fall apart into individual floating blades. The individual blades start to float around the wielder. When in this form Riata cannot attack, but she now protects. When in this form the wielders AC goes up by 2. Any enemy creature that makes an attack of 5 feet or shorter at the wielder takes 1d8 slashing damage. Additionally as a reaction the wielder can say the phrase "Barrier" on an incoming spell or ranged attack. Riata will become a floating shield temporarily increasing the wielder's AC by 5 for a single magic or ranged attack or raising their Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution Save by +2 on an area of effect spell.
Dancing Blade. You can use a bonus action to toss this magic sword into the air and speak the command word "Dance Riata". When you do so, the sword begins to hover, flies up to 30 feet, and attacks one creature of your choice within 5 feet of it. The sword uses your attack roll and ability score modifier to damage rolls.
While the sword hovers, you can use a bonus action to cause it to fly up to 30 feet to another spot within 30 feet of you. As part of the same bonus action, you can cause the sword to attack one creature within 5 feet of it.
After the hovering sword attacks for the fourth time, it flies up to 30 feet and tries to return to your hand. If you have no hand free, it falls to the ground at your feet. If the sword has no unobstructed path to you, it moves as close to you as it can and then falls to the ground. It also ceases to hover if you grasp it or move more than 30 feet away from it.
Sentience. Silver Riata is a sentient neutral weapon with an Intelligence of 17, a Wisdom of 14, and a Charisma of 10. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 60 feet.
The weapon can speak, read, and understand Common, and can communicate with its wielder telepathically. Its voice is feminine, but monotone and robotic. While you are attuned to it, Silver Riata also understands every language you know.
Personality. Silver Riata speaks with an monotone, robotic voice and wishes to be used. It now starts to talk more often and has conversations with the entire party. Rarely will it talk to just its current master alone now. She also starts to form opinions on the situations around the group. It also wishes to know more about its past and hopefully find its missing pieces to assist current master further.
The sword’s purpose is currently unknown to it still. Glimpses of its creator start to form along with how it became separated from it jewels. It still understands that it has a greater purpose but that is still unclear at this time.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
