Wondrous Item, artifact (requires attunement by a Artificer, Cleric, Druid, Sorcerer, or Wizard )

A rectangular prism onyx statue with an intricate geometric pattern in a glass case that seem to morph and change shape with oscillating rectangles, squares, and rhombuses. A creature that stands within 30-ft of the unattuned relic must make a WIS saving throw (DC 18) or be drawn to the kaleidoscope patterns. The target is drawn to pick up the relic. When they do, a burst of wind and dust expands out from the cube in a 20-ft circle. The person holding the item has visions of their darkest moment in life. The target can make a saving throw every minute. With a save, the target has no memory of the visions or the hour before they picked up the relic. They are immune to its effects for 24 hrs and have a strong desire to keep the statue with them.

Attuning to the item is a gruesome process that takes 1d4 hours. The creature takes 2d6 (7) necrotic damage during the process. Once attuned to the Hungering Cube, you are immune to its effects and gain the following features:

  • You can speak, read, and write Infernal.
  • You are immune to being charmed or frightened.
  • The iris of your eyes turn jet black.
  • A dark shadowy aura surrounds you when you cast spells.

Notes: Immunity: Frightened, Immunity: Charmed, Language: Infernal, Artificer, Cleric, Druid, Sorcerer, or Wizard
