Wondrous Item (arrow), uncommon

An arrow of multiplying is an arrow etched with many runes that glow a bright red as it multiplies. When you fire this arrow roll a d4, and make a number off attacks equal to the number rolled. If you roll a 1 the arrow does not multiply but it can be retrieved and fired again to attempt to activate it. For each arrow roll damage separately. If you target multiple creature you roll all attacks with disadvantage unless the creatures are within 5ft of each other. Aditional damage from a spell or trait can only be applied to 1 of the arrows regardless of the wording of the spell or trait. The same applies for poisons

Once an arrow of multiplying has multiplied the resulting arrows lose their etched runes, turn a charcoal black and become non-magical.

Other types of magic ammunition of this kind exist, such as bolts of multiplying meant for a crossbow, though arrows are most common.

Variants of this arrow such as +1, +2, and silvered  arrows of multiplying also exsist but are more rare and much more expensive.
