Instead of magnetized steel, the needle of this compass if made from astral iron and is sensitive to the emanations of the Outer Planes. In place of directions, this compass is marked by the various moral alignments. You can use an action to hold the compass out towards one creature you can see within 10 feet of you. The compass's needle then pivots and comes to rest on the heading that matches that creature's alignment. If the target is neutral, unaligned, or hidden from divination magic by a spell or other magical effect, the needle spins continually without coming to rest.

In addition, you can cast the augury spell from the compass at will. Instead of weal, woe, weal and woe, or nothing, the omen the DM provides indicates the moral alignment of your chosen course of action.
