Armor (plate), artifact (requires attunement by a Fighter, Monk, or Paladin)

The legend of Bartismar "the Dragon-Hunter" Garrion is one of death, vengeance, glory, and promise. It is the ultimate tale of the lowly made great, and the lofty reduced to a lower fate. The best among the bards sing of Sir Garrion's mighty exploits, and great acts of revenge, and old wives spin tales of his glory. He was a hero among heroes, and continues to be an inspiration to the common folk. His story is as such:

Sir Garrion, the Dragon Hunter

Bartismar was but a young blacksmith's apprentice when he swore his vengeful oath against the evil and selfish dragons of the realms. As many stories of dragons begin, his home was destroyed and his wife's life was taken in a draconic assault. He spent the entirety of the next decade perfecting his craft as a blacksmith, then an additional 25 years crafting the most powerful, dragon-slaying armor known to mortal minds. From his lowly, and squalid beginnings, he rose in 35 years to that of a hero of unmatched renown. He arose after the Great War on Magic as a hunter of evil in the sky and fought them until his body could take no more.

Garrion was known to be one of wisdom and cunning, and as such, he recognized when his days were coming to an end and scattered his armor for fear that it would end up in the hands of irresponsible men, or worse, in the claws of a dragon. He died alone, and on his death bed, admitted to his nurse that he had not fulfilled his promise, as there were still dragon's that lived and terrorized the otherwise free peoples of the realm.

While attuned to this armor, the user gains the following benefits:

Their Strength Score is increased to 27, and can't be increased beyond this.

Any damage dealt to a dragon with an unarmed strike deals an additional 3D6 force damage of the same type.

The Armor of Bartismar gives the wearer an AC of 20.

They gain Resistance to all Dragon's Breath Weapons.

They gain advantage on saves against a Dragon's Frightful Presence.

Their speed increases by 15 feet.

Their jump distance is tripled.

The armor has 4 charges. When the user hits with an attack against a creature of size gargantuan or smaller, they may expend a charge to force the target to make a Strength Saving Throw (DC: 20) or be propelled back 20ft and knocked prone. The armor regains all charges at each dawn.

They may use their reaction, when a dragon directs their breath weapon towards them, to absorb the breath weapon and store it for later use. When this happens, the breath weapon is redirected to the wearer of this armor in it's entirety, no one else in range of the breath weapon are subjected to it's effects, however the user loses any resistances they have against the triggering breath weapon, and must take all the damage. They may use their action to release a stored breath weapon with the same range, damage, and damage type as the dragon you captured it from. They must complete a long rest before doing this again, and any stored breath weapon dissipates at the end of your next long rest.

Curse of the Promise: The user, upon equipping the helm will immediately become attuned to it and the entire set of Sir Bartismar's armor, and will be forced to make a DC 20 Wisdom Saving throw. On a failed save their soul is forcefully torn from their body and replaced by that of Sir Bartismar Garrion permanently. On a success, the user will be forced to make another Wisdom Save on each of the next two consecutive rounds with respective DCs of 18, then 16. If they succeed all three saving throws, they are able to permanently fight off the spirit of Sir Bartismar, and the armor is now sworn to them for all of eternity.

Plate consists of shaped, interlocking metal plates to cover the entire body. A suit of plate includes gauntlets, heavy leather boots, a visored helmet, and thick layers of padding underneath the armor. Buckles and straps distribute the weight over the body.

Notes: Damage: Melee Weapon Attacks, Set: Strength Score, Bonus: Speed, Bonus: Armor Class, Fighter, Monk, or Paladin, Str. 15 Required, Stealth Disadvantage
