A Sending Soul is a wondrous item that is created when someone perishes whilst holding a sending stone in their inventory, they are crimson coloured stones with a marking that can be paired with another sending stone or sending soul, and they have small white wisps travelling through them. Due to their creation, Sending Souls may come in a pair with another Sending Soul or with a Sending Stone, depending on the circumstances, either way, they both are connected, however only the Sending Soul has an added function.
While you touch one stone, you can use an action to cast the sending spell from it. The target is the bearer of the other stone. If no creature bears the other stone, you know that fact as soon as you use the stone and don't cast the spell. Once sending is cast through the stones, they can't be used again until the next dawn or, if the stone you are holding is a sending soul, you may choose to sacrifice your own blood, taking 1d6 necrotic damage to recharge the Sending Soul, allowing another use before the next dawn, this exchange can be repeated until potentially lethal. If one of the stones in a pair is destroyed, the other one becomes nonmagical. The necrotic damage dealt is increased by the users level, becoming 2d6 at 6th level, 3d6 at 11th level and 4d6 at 16th level.
