The pipe is made from a dark and lustrous wood. It has a smooth curved shape and a large bowl, measuring about 10 inches in length.
This magical pipe is activated (lit) by speaking a command word and deactivated (extinguished) in a similar fashion. The pipe is smoked in a normal fashion, never needing to be repacked with pipe weed, but its smoke is a thick greenish blue and laced with twinkling sparks. When lit, the pipe repels normal insects (but not giant insects or the vile swarms of insects) within a 20-foot-radius centered on it. Once lit the pipe is shielded from the elements by a small wall of force shaped like a hemisphere above the pipe, which protects it from the elements, but the pipe doesn't work underwater or in the absence of air.
By speaking a command word unique to each pipe (no action) you can summon the pipe to your hand as long as you are on the same plane of existence as the pipe.
