A tube covered in runes. Closer inspection can be read as a mix of Acid Arrow and Acid Splash. When equiped with Mariks Hand Cannon it turns in to a giant flintlock pistol with the cartridge coming down diagonal at the hammer.
On hit you do 4d6 acid damage. If there is a creature/player within 5ft of the hit target, make a dex save DC 15. On fail they take 3d4 acid damage. All effected by Acid Paintball take an additional 2d4 on the start of their turn.
Each time you attack with this weapon you can add an extra charge for increased damage. Each extra charge used add 1d6 and 1d4
It’s up to you to decide whether a character has proficiency with a firearm. Characters in most D&D worlds wouldn’t have such proficiency. During their downtime, characters can use the training rules in the Player’s Handbook to acquire proficiency, assuming that they have enough ammunition to keep the weapons working while mastering their use.
