Description:
Special handheld crossbow developed by the manufacturer, Goldwater.
A sophisticated piece of equipment, the Goldwater series Auto Bolter is a special crossbow featuring a rapid firing and rapid reloading crossbow that can do the work of multiple crossbowmen in a small window of time. The Auto Bolter has two cylindrical magazines mounted to the bottom of a crossbow platform, each capable of loading 12 bolts for a total of 24 shot before needing to properly reload. A quick release lever placed underneath the magazines allows the user to eject both magazines quickly and to load in two more in the span of a few seconds.
Actions:
Single Shot: Take aim. Careful shots placed allows for better ammo conservation as well as guaranteeing your work goes rewarded. Making an attack action with this feature allows the user to make a single shot with a +2 to hit. A successful hit from a bolt does 1d6+3 piercing damage.
Burst Shots: Lay down the hurt! The user pulls on the special trigger that allows the weapon to fire in rapid succession. Making an attack action with this feature allows the user to make more than a single shot in one action. Roll to hit with the desired amount of bolts up to a maximum of 4. Each successful hit of the bolts does 1d6+2 piercing damage.
Full-Auto: No time to aim, just fire. A safety restriction is pulled and the user must brace to fire in order to control the weapon proper. Making an attack action with this feature allows the user to expend the rest of the ammunition in the magazines in a insane display of firepower. If the user has performed this action before their movement, the user's movement is halved for the rest of their turn. If the user has performed this action after moving more than half their movement, they will be knocked prone (Both movement-based penalties are ignored if the user has the 'Gunner' feat or has this weapon with an Artificer's 'Repeating Shot' infusion). Roll to hit with however many rounds that is left in the magazines with disadvantage (disadvantage is ignored if the user has the 'Gunner' feat or has this weapon with an Artificer's 'Repeating Shot' infusion). Each successful hit of the bolts does 1d6+1 piercing damage.
Proficiency with a Light Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
