Arcanist's Orb (Expert)

This shimmering, magical orb is filled with swirling aether, and emits a faint glow when used. While holding the orb, you gain the following benefits:

• You may use this orb as a spellcasting focus.
• You may attempt to cast a spell you don't know using this orb. The spell must be on the wizard spell list, and you must make an Intelligence (Arcana) check with a DC of 10 + twice the spell's level (treat a cantrip as level 0). If the check succeeds, you cast the spell using a spell slot of the appropriate level and the appropriate casting time. If the check fails, the action you used to cast the spell is wasted. In either case, you can't use this property again until you finish a long rest.
• You may use an action to recover some magical potential. You regain one spell slot of 5th level or lower. Once you use this property, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
• The orb functions as a Ring of Spell Storing that can store up to 6 levels worth of spells.
