It is said that many eons ago the great smith pulled lightning from the skies to craft the great lightning bow Ambaróna Aithorn. The bow was gifted to the Tritons of the eastern sea as a means of balancing the powers of the islands. This power however was abused by the king of the Tritons and the great smith sent his holy champion Soldra to take care of the Triton king. A ferocious battle ensued where the city was trampled, and eventually Soldra defeated the king and retrieved Ambaróna Aithorn. It is said this is the reason many Tritons now scour the seas as pirates and seem to have no single racial Mecca.
As punishment for the behavior of the king, the great smith placed Ambaróna Aithorn over the eastern sea cursing the people to horrid storms. It rests in the thunderous storm cloud over the reef of Bridgesomin until a great and worthy hero retrieves it.
The bow shoots lightning rather than normal ammunition; however it’s limited magic can only store up to 15 bolts worth of energy. 5 bolts worth of energy are restored with a short rest while all 15 bolts are restored using a long rest. Attacks with this weapon gain a +1 to hit which grows to +2 at level 5, and +3 at level 7. On hit the target takes 4d8 lightning damage, or half as much damage on a miss. Whether you hit or miss, each creature within 10 feet of the target must make a Dexterity saving throw. Each of these creatures takes 2d8 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
While attuned to the bow you may use the bow as a spell casting focus, you gain the ability to cast 3 lightning based spells. You may use these spells an amount of times equal to your proficiency modifier per long rest. You learn the spells Absorb Element(Lightning), Witch Bolt, and Lightning Bolt.
Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
