Staff (quarterstaff), rare (requires attunement by a Druid)

An adhock weapon that can be used in a variety of ways (much as a quarterstaff) that is magical in nature and can be retrofitted to accommodate up to four extra damage types beyond the standard bludgeoning. As a bonus action, when used in conjunction with the Orb of Elemental Control, you are permitted to make a two handed attack with this weapon.

  • On a hit, roll 1d8 to see which extra damage is done randomly. If a damage type is added through Damage Crystals this random roll is overridden and the staff deals that type of damage instead of the standard bludgeoning. It is rolled for an additional 1d6 for 1one handed attacks (or 1d8 for two handed attacks) for each Damage Crystal slot used, plus any effects it may add or conditions, such as poisoning for poison damage.
  • If an enemy is hit with a rolled damage type, but is immune, they take half the damage rolled in bludgeoning damage. If immune to bludgeoning damage, no damage is taken.
  • At every five levels gained add a 1d6/1d8 (1 handed/2 handed) depending on how the staff is being used (ex 5th level is 2dX die).

Effects

  • (1) Acid - +1d4 attack damage
  • (2) Cold - Gives vulnerability against cold damage until your next turn
  • (3) Fire - Gives vulnerability against fire damage until your next turn
  • (4) Force - +1d4 attack damage
  • (5) None - Basic bludgeoning only
  • (6) Poison - Poisons the target until they are healed of the condition, or make the save to end the condition, DC 10 plus proficiency bonus.
  • (7) Psychic - Frightened until your next turn

Proficiency with a Quarterstaff allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
