The Acid Vial is an eight inch tall glass Erlenmeyer flask full of green acid that weighs 6 pounds. When completely dumped out, the acid does 10d6 acid damage. A smaller amount can be tipped out ten times, doing 1d6 acid damage each time.
You can use an action and name one liquid from the table below to cause the Vial to produce the chosen liquid. Afterward, you can uncork the Vial as an action and pour that liquid out, up to 2 gallons per minute. The maximum amount of liquid the Vial can produce depends on the liquid you named.
Once the Vial starts producing a liquid, it can't produce a different one, or more of one that has reached its maximum, until the next dawn.
| Liquid | Max Amount |
|---|---|
| Acid | 10 ounces |
| Basic poison | 3 doses |
| Beer | 5 gallons |
| Honey | 2 gallons |
| Tartar sauce | 2 gallons |
| Oil | 2 quarts |
| Vinegar | 4 gallons |
| Water, fresh | 12 gallons |
| Water, salt | 15 gallons |
| Tequila | 2 gallon |
If no liquid is in it, it refills with acid every dawn.
While attuned to the Acid Vial, the wielder is immune to acid damage. The attuned creature can also cast Elemental Weapon at will on any weapon, magical or not, but only using acid damage. Instead of mayonnaise, the vial fills with tartar sauce.
The Acid Vial has 1 minor property and 1 quirk: if light is shone through the vial onto something that is locked, it unlocks it. Muttering: the Acid Vial mutters softly all the time, mostly about its past, or random cooking recipes. It does not respond to questions.
The Acid Vial also serves as one of a set of 5 magic items which hold Tiamat in prison in Hell. The other 4 are the Icicle, the Red Sphere, the Lightning Rod, and the Greenhorn. Each item must be activated in a certain way to break the seal. The Acid Vial must be full of acid, and have alight shown through it directly pointing at the Red Sphere from at least 100 miles away from it.
