This item first appears as a hand-sized, egg-shaped crystal that is iron gray in color. When you attune to this item, you learn the Spare the Dying and Prestidigitation cantrips, and the crystal itself becomes a creature of your choice from the options of the Find Familiar spell. You can communicate with and share the senses of this familiar the same as if it was summoned by the spell.

You can give this familiar a special command to transform into a different familiar option, into a shortsword, or back to its familiar form.

If the familiar is reduced to 0 hit points, it will transform into the sword form and cannot change forms again until the next dawn.

If your attunement to this item ends, it reverts back the crystal.

 

Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
