Armband of the Know-It-All

Your Intelligence score is 19 while you wear this armband. It has no effect on you if your Intelligence is 19 or higher without it.

This item is cursed. On any Intelligence check to recall factual knowledge, the wearer is always convinced that they know the answer, whether the check was succesful or not. If they have no information, they will jump to conclusions and conjure plausible explanations from thin air. They must then act according to the conviction that they are correct. If they fail to do this and act in a way that goes against their conviction, they must make any resulting checks with disadvantage. Charisma (Persuasion) rolls to dissuade them from any false assumptions caused by this curse have disadvantage.

Knowing about the cursed nature of this armband does not grant the wearer any self-awareness to second-guess their judgment. They will always be convinced that they would have come to the same conclusion if they hadn't been wearing it.

Removing the bracelet makes the wearer completely lose track of their current train of thought, and their memory of the the time spent wearing the armband becomes hazy and hard to grasp.
