Weapon (shortsword), artifact (requires attunement by a Bloodhunter of Noble Descent)

This Silver Sword has 3 Runes etched into the center of the blade. The 2nd and 3rd runes are ruined and require re-etching and discovery to reveal their true purpose. The hilt of the sword bears the sigils of 4 major noble houses and is wrapped in red ribbon.

The Trials Result. When under the effects of a Witcher Potion that enhances your natural Blood Hunter abilities you may wield Aerondight in both hands. Doing so allows you to make an attack and then use your bonus action to make an attack with the other. If you would already be able to do this, then you may instead attack twice during your action and once with a bonus action.

The Edge Returned. While in your Hybrid form you can wield Aerondight without being burned by the silver. The longer you are in your hybrid form the more aggressive and rageful your strikes become. You deal extra damage die equal to the amount of attacks you took the previous turn.

Silver Shining. When you deal damage to a non-humanoid creature with Aerondight, a silver raven spirit will appear and make a silver claw attack dealing 1d8 silvered slashing damage.

The backside of this weapon is a Damascus steel blade with a raven's head and wings carved into the hilt. The blade is black and seems to shine with an eerie stillness. On the pommel of the blade is inscribed a raven insignia. There are ancient Atmora runes etched into the center of the blade, and they glow with a silver shine.

Bond of the Raven. Whenever you deal damage, Aerondight stores up to 2d8 of the damage dealt as temporary HP. Whenever you would cast Crimson Rite, you may instead use the temporary HP stored within the blade. Casting Crimson Rite in this way causes it to deal an extra +2 damage to the last enemy you dealt damage to. Once you cast Crimson Rite, all temporary HP is drained from the blade and Crimson Rite must deactivate before storing HP again. You can use this ability up to 3 times per long rest. (You can use this without being attuned to the weapon.)

Symbiotic Steel. (You must be attuned to use the following affect.) This weapon has 4 charges. You regain 1d4 charges during a long rest. Attacking with your Crimson Rite active allows you to channel the old ways of the first blood hunters. You may spend charges to choose an effect that does one of the following:

  1. Walking Bomb. You cast the spell Blood Pulse. (3 Charges)
  2. Frozen Strike. Successful hits on medium or smaller targets slows their movement by up to 5 ft. (1 Charge)
  3. Storm Blade. Killing an enemy allows you to shoot a blast of lightning at the nearest enemy target dealing 1d10 damage. (2 Charges)
  4. Rite of the Dead. You absorb half the damage you deal as temporary HP that lasts until you are out of combat. (2 Charges)
  5. Rite of the Oracle. Your instincts take over the next time you would be attacked. You gain +2 to your AC the next time you would be the target of an attack. (1 Charge)

Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
