This extremely rugged leather backpack has one main compartment and two smaller pockets attached at its sides, and each one is an extradimensional space similar to a Bag of Holding. Each of the side pockets can hold up to 25 pounds of material, with a volume limitation of 2.5 cubic feet. The main compartment can hold up to 100 pounds of material, with a volume limitation of 10 cubic feet. The backpack always weighs 15 pounds, empty or full.
When the user places any object inside any compartment, it acts in the same way as items in any other extradimensional space. To remove an item from it requires the user to use an action, but when reaching into the pack for a specific item, it will always be found on top.
This item is much less vulnerable than the similar handy haversack. It will repel any item which exceeds its weight limit, so cannot be overloaded. Due to its heavy construction and additional protective enchantment, it is protected against piercing and tearing by sharp objects, and its saving throws use those of its attuned user with a +2 bonus. If the pack fails to save against piercing and tearing damage, it will rupture, be destroyed and all its contents will be lost in the same way as the Haversack or similar items.
No breathing creature can be placed within the pack, as it will be repelled as if exceeding the weight limit. Minor exterior damage (burns, nicks, etc.) will be mended during the character's next long rest.
Placing the pack inside an extradimensional space created by a bag of holding, handy haversack, portable hole, or similar item instantly destroys both items and opens a gate to the Astral Plane. The gate originates where the one item was placed inside the other. Any creature within 10 feet of the gate is sucked through it and deposited in a random location on the Astral Plane. The gate then closes. The gate is one-way only and can't be reopened.
