This ornate hilt has 6 tiny gems set in it, each representing a corresponding element type. Green (acid), dark blue (cold), red (fire), yellow (lightning), black (poison), and pale blue (thunder). Three times per long rest, you may activate the hilt's arcane properies as a bonus action and choose one damage type: acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or thunder. For the next hour, you deal an extra 1d6 damage of the chosen type to any target you hit with the weapon. If the weapon isn’t magical, it becomes a magic weapon for the spell’s duration.
As a bonus action, you can change the damage type, choosing from the options above.
To attach the hilt requires 8 hours of smithing work: 4 hours to unattach the current hilt and handle (Craft DC 14) and 4 hours to attach the new hilt and reattach the handle (Craft DC 14). When fastening the magic hilt, after the first Craft check, roll another check using DEX instead of STR to determine the symmetrical alignment: a roll of 10 or more results in good symmetry, less than 10 results in asymmetry. This does not effect the performance of the blade however.
