This wooden staff features a mysterious continuous flame burning at one end. Unknown to the fire giants whom found it floating in a lava river, this branch from the world tree has absorbed the lava's fiery power into it. The staff is hot to the touch for anyone without fire resistance.
This staff functions as a +2 quarterstaff, which also deals 1d6 fire damage on a hit.
While attuned to it, you gain the following properties:
- You have resistance to fire damage.
- +2 to spell attack rolls
- The staff has 15 charges. While holding it, you can use an action to expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it, using your spell save DC: burning hands (1 charge), scorching ray (1 charge), fireball (3 charges), wall of fire (4 charges), or flame strike (4 charges).
The staff regains 1d8 + 5 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 4 or less, the staff looses control of the fire energy inside of and causes a fiery explosion. All creatures in a 20ft radius around the staff must make a DC 17 dex save or take 12d6 fire damage.
Proficiency with a Quarterstaff allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
