Wondrous Item, artifact (requires attunement)

A dragon’s heart is the source of its power, as it generates the elemental energy that grants dragons their breath weapons and other powers. It is a dragon’s most magical aspect. This heart has been removed from within an ancient chromatic dragon's body — becoming enchanted through a ritual known only to the most ancient and knowledgeable of dragons. This high enchantment allows the dragon heart to be magically implanted within the body of a strong-willed humanoid creature, where it will continue to beat vivaciously.

Dragon Heart Ritual. To find a dragon heart capable of being used for this ritual, it must first be successfully extracted from the body of an ancient chromatic dragon without being damaged. To then enchant and attune to this extracted dragon heart, a single dragon (who has knowledge of this ritual) must willingly perform the ritual on you, which takes 1 day to complete.

At the end of the ritual, you must make a DC 20 Wisdom or Charisma saving throw (your choice). On a failed save, the ritual fails and the dragon heart is destroyed. On a successful save, the dragon heart becomes enchanted and you successfully attune to the heart as it is magically implanted within your body. Only one dragon heart of any kind can be implanted within an individual creature, and nothing short of a wish spell can remove an implanted dragon heart.

Once attuned to the dragon heart, you gain the following properties:

Elemental Immunity. You have immunity against the heart's damage type

Damage Absorption. Whenever you are subjected to damage of the heart's damage type, you can use your reaction to regain a number of temporary points equal to half the damage dealt of that type. However, you do not regain temporary hit points if the elemental damage comes from your own source of magic power.

Dragon Breath (Recharge 5—6). As an action, you exhale elemental damage in either a 90--foot cone or a 120--foot line that is 10 feet wide (your choice). Each creature in that cone or line must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 5d10 elemental damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The element of the dragon's heart determines the damage type of the exhalation.

Draconic Lifeforce. Your Constitution score increases by 2 and your maximum for this score is now 22. In addition, you age at a slower rate. For every 10 years that pass, your body ages only 1 year, and you are immune to being magically aged.

Dragon Soul. You can speak and understand Draconic. When you speak Draconic, you do so with the voice of the dragon whom the heart once resided in. You also have advantage on any Charisma check you make against dragons that share the heart's color.

Legendary Resistance (1/Day). If you fail a saving throw, you can choose to succeed instead.
