This shield is said to have belonged to a great hero from a far off land, having come to protect the kingdom from impending danger. Legend has it, the great hero could survive any attack and used this shield's abilities in unique and unorthodox ways. It is a simple looking shield made entirely of metal with a spherical emerald shield residing in the middle of it.
While attuned to the Shield of the Forgotten Hero, the user is unable to use any weapons and may only wield the shield in combat. Any attempt to hold a weapon will result in that weapon being forced from the users grasp and thrown 5 feet away from the user onto the ground. If attuned to any weapons after attuning to the shield will remove those attunements in place of attuning to the shield. The following abilities of the shield can only be used by one who attunes to the Shield of the Forgotten Hero.
The user of this shield can "feed" the emerald on it fragments of enemies with resistances or immunities. Upon "consuming" a fragment, the user can use an action to morph the shield into a shield that grants resistance to that damage type. The user can unlock shield variants to resist all types of damage, but never any that grant immunity.
While in combat, as an action, the user can assume a defensive position to negate the next melee attack's damage targeted at the user. When successfully blocked, the shield releases a burst of energy in the damage type associated with the shield (i.e. a fire resistance shield will release a burst of fire) doing 1d10 damage. This damage increases by 1d10 when you reach 5th level (2d10), 11th level (3d10), and 17th level (4d10).
Up to twice per day, the user may cast Tenser's Floating Disk. The disk is 5 feet in diameter as opposed to the spells regular 3 feet and is completely stationary. The spell vanishes after 1 minute outside combat or after 1 round in combat. The user can use it as a giant shield to protect those behind it or use it as a platform to walk across (this aspect of the spell can defy the height restriction of the natural spell, but uses up all uses).
Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
Notes: user wearing it for at least a day
