The function of this ornate stage is to empower a spellcaster to defend a ship or building on which it has been installed. It must be built upon a reasonably flat surface.
The sensation of being attuned to an arcane plinth is akin to the heat of standing a bit too close to an open oven.
While attuned to an arcane plinth, you gain the following abilities depending on the materials used to create it:
- When attuned to the arcane plinth, the spellcaster is magically levitated, inches above the surface.
- The spellcaster, while levitating, cannot be knocked prone or forced to move without first dropping/losing their attunement to the plinth.
- Diamond (Endurance):
- This arcane plinth has 10 charges and regenerates [roll]1d4+1[/roll] each dawn.
- At any time, the attuned spellcaster can use those charges to cast an additional spell without using a spell slot, instead using as many charges, equal to the spell’s level.
- Ruby (Empowerment):
- Spellcasters attuned to this arcane plinth can ignore resistances to acid, cold, fire, lightning, and thunder damage.
- In addition to this, the plinth has 5 charges, recovering [roll]1d4-1[/roll] per dawn.
- A spellcaster can use these charges when they hit a creature with an attack that deals the above damage types, they can reroll one of the attack’s damage dice per charge, and you must use the new roll.
- Sapphire (Presence):
- The attuned spellcaster can chose one point within 100 feet of the plinth that is within their direct line of site from the plinth itself.
- This spellcaster can now see and hear as if standing or floating in the selected point until the start of their next turn. During this time, they are deaf and blind with regard to their own senses.
- The plinth has 5 charges, recovering [roll]1d4-1[/roll] per dawn.
- A spellcaster can use one of these charges to cast a spell as if casting from the chosen point.
- Emerald (Connection):
- This plinth can connect the spellcaster and any willing creature, within 100 feet of the plinth, in a way that some would say is deeper than mere telepathy.
- The connected people and creatures can communicate through their connection without needing to know a shared language.
- In addition to this, the attuned spellcaster can redistribute life and arcane energies between their comrades, taking and giving spell slots as well as transferring hit points from one willing creature to another. This is not considered taking damage from an attack.
- Opal (Illusion):
- I’m still thinking about this one. I want to do a sort invisibility and mazes and
Transfer Attunement. You can use an action to touch a willing spellcaster. That creature attunes to the arcane plinth immediately, and your attunement to it ends.
COST OF AN ARCANE PLINTH
An arcane plinth propels and steers a ship much as sails, oars, and rudders work on a seafaring vessel, and an arcane plinth is easy to create if one has the proper spell. [Tooltip Not Found] has a material component cost of 5,000 gp, 4,000 gp Crystal Rod and a 1,000 gp gemstone of the above varieties.
