This bracer is fashioned from vines twined around the wearer’s forearm, covered with multiple overlapping layers of leaves.
As a bonus action, speaking the command word causes its foliage unfurl, forming a shield that remains fastened to the wearer’s forearm. Additionally, the armband has two charges; when the wearer is attacked, they may expend a charge to activate the arm shield as a reaction instead. Both charges are recovered at dawn.
When the arm shield is activated, the wearer’s AC increases as if they were holding a shield (+2) without requiring a hand to wield it. This bonus does not apply to attacks that might deal fire damage, as the living plants will shrink away from fire. The wearer also has advantage on stealth checks when they are within 5 feet of a tree and the arm shield is active.
After 10 minutes, or if the command word is spoken again as a bonus action, the shield rewraps itself around the wearer’s arm. If the wielder is hit by fire or necrotic damage with the arm shield unfurled, it shrivels and reverts immediately and cannot be used again until the following dawn.
The wearer can change the appearance of the plants that make up the armband and shield by holding a leaf (or other plant component) against the armband for one minute.
