Once the cane of the knowledge god Thoth, this powerful artifact was stolen by a great thief. Thoth went looking for him, and he sold it on the black market. The buyer heard rumors about the angered god, so he sold it to someone else. And they sold it to someone else. And they sold it to someone else. Nobody knows where the cane is now. Some say it was bought by a powerful wizard who owns it to this day. Others say it was returned to Thoth by one of his followers. It may still even be on sale in the black market. No one knows for sure… Except the one who owns it.
The Cane of Thoth appears as a wooden staff which resembles an ibis’s neck and head at the top. Inscribed in the staff are glowing bits of lore of the multiverse written in Celestial.
Disclaimer: I took a lot of the format from the Eye and Hand of Vecna.
