This amulet is made of dark, twisted metal and features a skull carved into its center.
When worn, the amulet grants the wearer a temporary boost to their health and stamina, making them feel stronger and more alive. However, this boost comes at a cost. Every time the wearer takes damage, a portion of that damage is reflected back onto them as necrotic damage, as if the very essence of death is leeching into their body.
Over time, the wearer will find that their health is slowly drained away, and their physical appearance begins to age and wither. The only way to remove the curse is to find a way to destroy the amulet, or to find a powerful enough magical healer who can remove the curse without harming the wearer.
The curse of the Amulet of Mortality is a slow and insidious one, so it won't kill your players outright. Instead, it will add an element of danger and risk to combat encounters, forcing them to weigh the benefits of temporary strength against the long-term costs of the curse.
