Wondrous Item, common

Ruined Armor - Vulnerability to piercing/slashing/bludgeoning -10 movement speed - -3 to initiative - Cannot be sold or repaired

This Item is part of a gear quality set to give more depth to any items and provides more options for players when visiting shops. It also provides a sense of urgency when it comes to maintaining and upgrading gear. Critical hits can degrade armor on a 1 or 2 (player role 1d6)

The title of each quality refers to how the gear would be appraised by an NPC. The quality may refer to the current condition of the item or the quality of the item based on how it was crafted.

Inside the parenthesis refers to the skill required to craft it or the type of crafter you will have to seek out to make or repair that quality type. If a player character has crafting in their background, you can consider them a lineage crafter. The number range defines the roll a player needs to make in order to craft the gear. Crafted gear is capped to the proficiency of the crafter, meaning that even with a high roll the resulting gear quality is

Ruined (failed crafting) 1-2 ||| Faulty (novice) 3-7 ||| Blemished (no proficiency) 8-12 ||| Standard (proficient crafter) 13-17 ||| Reinforced (expert crafter) 18-22 ||| True (lineage crafter) 23-27 ||| Renowned (renowned crafter) 28-32 ||| Impeccable (divine crafter) 32-36

I highly recommend creating a special adventure to acquire any item with impeccable quality, e.g. by completing a trial for a god, or by defeating a creature with a high CR.

Even with renowned gear, the players will have to seek out that crafter and most likely will have to pay a high fee or complete a favor/quest to earn the gear.

Most cities will have true quality gear and every city should have reinforced gear.

Towns and villages will most likely have standard quality gear if not blemished.

Faulty and ruined gear most likely won't be found in shops but as loot from NPC's.

Notes: Vulnerability: Bludgeoning, Vulnerability: Piercing, Vulnerability: Slashing, Bonus: Speed, Bonus: Initiative
