Weapon (whip), uncommon

This fishrod is made of sturdy metal and features a sharp hook on one end and a weighted line on the other. The rod can be used as a melee weapon, with the hook dealing slashing damage.

Damage: 1d6 slashing

Properties: finesse, reach (5 ft.), special

Special:

  • Range Attack: As an action, you can make a ranged attack (20-30 feet) with the hook, using your Dexterity modifier instead of Strength. On a hit, the hook deals 1d4 slashing damage and you can choose to grapple the target. You can use your Dexterity (Acrobatics) or Strength (Athletics) to make the grapple check. You can also grapple without dealing damage, letting you use instantly Grappling.
  • Grappling: When you successfully grapple a creature with the hook, you can choose to reel it in towards you on your next turn. This requires your action and a successful Strength check (DC = 10 + the creature's Strength or Dexterity modifier). On a success, you pull the creature 10 feet closer to you. If the creature is two size categories smaller than you, you can pull it all the way to you.
  • You must use both of your hands while a creature is grappled and can't use the attack action. You can use a free action to free them.

Proficiency with a Whip allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.

Notes: Damage, Combat, Finesse, Reach, Slow
