The Amulet of Lingua Franca appears as a silver disc with intricate designs etched into its surface.
Once attuned, the wearer can activate the amulet's power by holding it with both hands. The wearer gains the ability to speak and understand Common regardless of whether or not they knew the language previously.
However, for Kenku wearers, the amulet carries with it a side effect. The first time the Kenku wearer activates the amulet each day, they must make a DC 1 Charisma saving throw. The DC of the saving throw increases by 1 for each subsequent day of use of the amulet. The DC resets to 1 after a failed roll.
If the Kenku wearer fails the saving throw, they experience a painful psychic backlash, taking 1D6 psychic damage. The damage continuously increases by 1D4 for each subsequent failed saving throw.
