This scale mail is made of interlocking bronze gears that enhance ease of movement and gives the feel of light armor, removing stealth disadvantage. Built into the bracers are artificer's and thieves tools that, if well maintained*, give a +5 bonus to any checks made by the wearer while using the tools.
*The wearer must spend 1 hour performing maintenance on the tools and armor during a long rest in order to receive the bonus the following day. If maintenance is not performed at least every 5 days, the tools have a chance of breaking if a check is failed (they will break on a natural 1). Tools broken this way can only be repaired by spending 8 hours repairing them by hand or by taking them to a blacksmith and leaving the armor there for a day. The cost of this service is usually 20 gp.
This armor consists of a coat and leggings (and perhaps a separate skirt) of leather covered with overlapping pieces of metal, much like the scales of a fish. The suit includes gauntlets.
