This magical longsword is beautiful, surprisingly unwieldy and grants you a +1 bonus to the attack and damage rolls of attacks you make with it.
This longsword is actually a shattered blade consisting of multiple parts and when wielded as a longsword, is weaker than the sum of its parts.
As a bonus action you can speak this magic sword's command word to animate the shattered pieces of the blade. When you do so the blade shatters into 4 pieces: the blade that you wield and 3 additional fragments, which hover around you or the blade for up to 1 minute or until you lose concentration. While the blade is shattered, you gain the following effects:
- The blade that you wield acts as a +1 scimitar or shortsword (your choice when you activate this feature)
- When you make an attack with the blade, the fragments also make attacks. These attacks can be against the target of your attack, or against another creature or object with 10 feet of your target. The fragments use the same attack and damage bonuses as the main blade but instead deal 1d4 piercing damage to their target.
Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
If you can cast the spell spiritual weapon, you can instead use the casting of that spell in place of speaking the sword's command word (and don't expend a charge). When you do so, the blade gains the following benefits, in addition to those listed above:
- The blade remains as a +1 longsword and you are considered proficient with it, even if you lack proficiency with the longsword.
- You can use your spellcasting ability instead of Strength for the attack and damage rolls of attacks made using the blade.
- This feature no longer requires your concentration, instead lasting for 1 minute or until dispelled.
- The fragments summoned by this effect are spectral and deal force damage. You summon 3 fragments when you use a 2nd-level spell slot and summon 1 additional fragment for each spell slot level above 2nd.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
