The Arcane Forgeplate is a suit of enchanted plate armor that resonates with magical energy. It has a polished silver surface that reflects light like a mirror, and a set of intricate runic engravings that pulse with arcane power. The armor has a base Armor Class of 15, and requires attunement by a creature that has performed the attunement ritual.
Attunement: The Arcane Forgeplate requires a ritual attunement that takes 8 hours to complete. During this process, the attuned creature must perform a series of intricate forging rituals and recite ancient arcane incantations to activate the armor's magical properties. Additionally, the attuned creature must have proficiency in the Arcana skill to understand and control the armor's arcane energies.
Once attuned, the Arcane Forgeplate can only be worn by the creature that performed the attunement ritual, or by another creature that has the approval of the original attuned creature. The armor also cannot be unattuned unless the attuned creature willingly performs another ritual to release its hold on the armor's magic.
Effect:
The Arcane Forgeplate has the ability to absorb the essence of fallen foes and channel that energy to enhance its own abilities. Whenever the attuned creature defeats a hostile creature in combat, they gain a number of experience points (XP) equal to the defeated creature's Challenge Rating (CR). Additionally, whenever the attuned creature takes damage in combat, they gain a number of XP equal to the amount of damage taken (rounded down).
The Arcane Forgeplate has 5 levels, with each level granting additional benefits to the wearer based on their accumulated XP:
Level 1 (100 XP): The Arcane Forgeplate grants a +1 bonus to Armor Class.
Level 2 (500 XP): The Arcane Forgeplate gains the ability to cast the Shield spell once per day as a bonus action without using a spell slot.
Level 3 (2,500 XP): The Arcane Forgeplate grants a +2 bonus to Armor Class, and the attuned creature gains resistance to one damage type of their choice.
Level 4 (5,000 XP): The Arcane Forgeplate gains the ability to cast the Magic Missile spell once per day as an action without using a spell slot.
Level 5 (10,000 XP): The Arcane Forgeplate grants a +3 bonus to Armor Class.
At Higher Levels: The Arcane Forgeplate's XP requirements can be adjusted to suit the level of the attuned creature and the power level of the campaign. Additionally, the number of uses for the Shield and Magic Missile spells can be increased as the armor's level increases.
Notes: The Arcane Forgeplate's XP and spells aren't linked to the wielder, but to the armor itself. Therefore, giving the armor to another attuned creature will not reset the spells' cooldown.
Plate consists of shaped, interlocking metal plates to cover the entire body. A suit of plate includes gauntlets, heavy leather boots, a visored helmet, and thick layers of padding underneath the armor. Buckles and straps distribute the weight over the body.
Notes: Set: Armor Class, Bonus: Armor Class, The wielder needs to perform the attunement ritual. (More information in the Description), Combat, Str. 15 Required, Stealth Disadvantage
