Anchor Axe

Weapon (battleaxe), rare (requires attunement)

This Eldritirian battleaxe appears to be a normal weapon at first glance, but with a twist of the handle, it can transform into an anchor, making it a versatile tool for ship combat.

In its battleaxe form, the Anchor Axe functions as a +1 battleaxe that deals 1d8 slashing damage. When used to attack a creature within 5 feet of the wielder, the Anchor Axe can be swung in a sweeping arc, allowing the wielder to make an additional attack against a second creature within range.

As a bonus action, the wielder can transform the Anchor Axe into its anchor form. In this form, the weapon functions as a grappling hook with 60 feet of rope attached. The wielder can make a ranged attack with the anchor form, targeting a solid object within 60 feet. On a hit, the anchor lodges into the object and can be used to climb or swing towards the anchor point. Alternatively, the wielder can make a Strength check to try to pull the object towards them.

While in its anchor form, the weapon deals no damage in combat, but it can be used to create difficult terrain, entangle enemies, or create makeshift cover.

When the Anchor Axe is transformed from its anchor form back into its battleaxe form, it deals an additional 1d6 force damage on its next attack as the anchor is released with a powerful burst of energy.

This weapon is commonly used by Eldritirian mercenaries and sailors for both combat and utility purposes, and its unique design reflects their love of versatility and adaptability in any situation.

Proficiency with a Greataxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Cleave. If you hit a creature with a melee attack roll using this weapon, you can make a melee attack roll with the weapon against a second creature within 5 feet of the first that is also within your reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the weapon’s damage, but don’t add your ability modifier to that damage unless that modifier is negative. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.

Notes: anyone, Heavy, Two-Handed, Cleave
