Weapon (rifle, hunting), rare

Arti's rifle passed down to him from his grandfather.

Misfire. Whenever you make an attack roll with a firearm, and you roll lower than an 10 minus your proficiency modifier. the weapon jams. The attack misses, and the weapon cannot be used again until you spend 1 attack or 1 action to clear the jam.

Noise warning. After firing this gun an enemy within 100 feet may make a perception check to zero in on your location. this can be mitigated by crafting/finding a suppresser. make an investigation check to find the materials required and then make a crafting check for its effectiveness  1-10: single use, 11-15: two shot use, 16-20: three shot use.

Ammunition. All firearms require ammunition to make an attack, and due to their rare nature, ammunition may be near impossible to find or purchase.

It’s up to you to decide whether a character has proficiency with a firearm. Characters in most D&D worlds wouldn’t have such proficiency. During their downtime, characters can use the training rules in the Player’s Handbook to acquire proficiency, assuming that they have enough ammunition to keep the weapons working while mastering their use.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.

Notes: Twice Proficiency: Perception, Range, Two-Handed, Ammunition (Firearms), Reload, Slow
