A powerful Kua-toa religious icon dedicated to Leemooggoogoon, the Deep Father (the Kua-toa name for Demogorgon). The necklace portion is made of black pearls, and the centerpiece holds a a ordinary looking rock that is infused with faerzress and encased in white coral. A junior priest of Leemooggoogoon, after witnessing the devastation of Sloobludop, followed behind Demogorgon on his subsequent rampage through the Underdark. Suffering from demonic madness, and believing Leemooggoogoon to have come from a plane of existence in the watery depths, the priest attempted to enchant the amulet with Leemooggoogoon's blessing to take him to that watery paradise. Whether actually "blessed," or an effect of the faerzress in close proximity to Demogorgon, the amulet did eventually became enchanted (and cursed) with powerful magic. The amulet bestows the following properties once you are attuned to it:
- You are granted the ability to breathe underwater as if under the effect of a water breathing spell.
- You can walk and move normally underwater (with your same normal movement speed) as if under the effect of a freedom of movement spell (underwater effects only).
- Your swimming speed in water increases by 30ft.
- While completely submersed underwater, you can will the amulet to create a portal to the Elemental Plan of Water once per day (recharge at dawn). This portal appears next to you, is roughly 10-foot tall and 5-foot wide, and stays open for one minute. If you know the location on the Elemental Plane of Water you wish to go to, then the portal opens there; otherwise, it opens at a random location on the Elemental Plane of Water. If using the amulet on the Elemental Plane of Water, then the amulet functions in reverse fashion for travel to the Prime Material Plane. Once a portal has been opened (either way), the amulet cannot be utilized in this way to open another portal until it has recharged.
Curse of Leemooggoogoon. Each time the amulet is utilized to open a portal to the Elemental Plane of Water (or to the Prime Material Plan if using the amulet on the Elemental Plan of Water), there is a 25% chance (non-cumulative) that a portion of Demogorgon's conscience will become aware of your usage of the amulet. If that happens, he will force the portal open to a random location on the 88th Layer of the Abyss (also known as the Gaping Maw) instead. Any creature within a 30-foot radius of the portal to the Abyss must make a DC 20 Strength saving throw, or be sucked through the portal. The portal immediately closes after every creature failing their saving throw has been sucked through it. Once you and any other creatures have been sucked through the portal, it can not be used to return to the plane you just left until the amulet has been recharged (i.e., you are either stuck in the Abyss for a day, or you need to find another means of departing the Abyss).
