This cursed Amulet was taken by adventurers from a Gold Dragon lair deep in the mountains, its origins are unknown before its appearance in that horde. An intricate interlacing of gold holds a pendant of deep green, its depth endless. Yet it brings no warmth to its wearer, instead it poison spreads as it lies close to the heart, a slow burning desire for more and more and more.
Upon laying eyes on this amulet, there intended victim must make a CHA save at disadvantage (DC 18), if they fail, the victim will automatically attempt to wear this amulet. Once the cursed amulet is placed around the wearers neck, it cannot be removed by the wearer. It drives its unlucky victim to begin to horde and gather wealth with no thought to the consequences of others or those around them. Soon the victim is unable to eat, to drink, and sleep as they are driven with the insatiable urge to protect their ill-gotten horde from real or imagined foes; leading to demise.
Depending on the baseline of its wearer, some are fated to suffer for days, some for years, under its mind curdling influence. Even the most generous and kindest of souls can be influenced by this magic. No divine light or purpose shields its user. DM choice for timeline of corruption.
The wearer will fend off any attempt to remove the amulet, even to the death. If the amulet can be removed, the wearer may be saved, but, forever must live with the guilt of their actions and a deep seeded longing for the cursed item.
