This slender metal rod crackles with magical energy, and when pointed at a target, it can unleash a devastating blast of force. However, each time the conduit is used, the wielder's mind is infused with chaotic energy, causing them to become more erratic and unpredictable over time.
Properties.
While holding the wand, you can use an action to expend some of its charges to cast one of the following spells (save DC 15) from it: fireball (3 charges), lightning bolt (3 charges), or thunderwave (1 charge).
Chaotic Energy.
After you use the wand to cast a spell, you must roll a d20. On a roll of 1,
your mind is infused with chaotic energy, causing you to become more erratic
and unpredictable over time. For each time this happens, you gain one level of
the "Chaotic Energy" curse (see below).
Curse: Chaotic
Energy. The wielder of the Aeorian Arcane Conduit is slowly consumed by chaotic
energy, causing them to become more and more unpredictable over time. At each
level of the curse, roll on the following table to determine the effect:
Level 1: You have disadvantage on all Intelligence-based ability checks, and you must make aWisdom saving throw (DC 15) after casting a spell from the conduit. On a failed
save, you become confused for 1 minute.
Level 2: You gain a random form of short-term madness (see Dungeon Master's Guide, p. 258), and you must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 15) after casting a spell from the conduit. On a failed save, you gain a level of exhaustion.
Level 3: You have disadvantage on all attack rolls, and you must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC15) after casting a spell from the conduit. On a failed save, you suffer a random form of long-term madness (see Dungeon Master's Guide, p. 260).
Level 4: You lose the ability to cast spells from the conduit, and you must make a Wisdom savingthrow (DC 15) after each long rest. On a failed save, you gain a level of exhaustion and roll twice on the "Indefinite Madness" table (see Dungeon Master's Guide, p. 260).
Destroying the Wand. The Aeorian Arcane Conduit is a powerful and durable magical item. To destroy it, one must melt it down in the fires of an ancient dragon, or break it with a single blow from a hammer blessed by a god of order.
Notes: requires attunement by a spellcaster
